Evergreen Nursery Christmas Page 2017

Reminder, you can recycle your Christmas tree at our Carmel Valley, Oceanside or Blossom Valley locations. Please do not drop off your tree at our Carmel Mountain lot.

Our Christmas trees come from small, independently owned farms in the Pacific Northwest from farmers that we have known for years. They take pride in their product and cut our trees right before they are loaded in the trucks to head to our nurseries and tree lots right here in San Diego County.
Customers frequently say “how do you keep your trees so fresh?” We do several things to protect these beauties but first and foremost – our trees are fresh when they arrive. They didn’t get cut at the beginning of November only to sit on loading docks by the thousands waiting for the big box store’s trucks to haul them to a central place where they sit again before making their way to the store. Our trees are cut and arrive at our nurseries and lots within 3 days. Then, we cut the base again and store them in water so they are fresh for you when you shop. When you buy your tree, we give it a fresh cut again so it will maintain its freshness for as long as possible. After all, a Christmas tree is no longer alive when you take it home. Like fresh flowers, it can only last so long
What can you do to keep your tree fresh?
Start by buying the freshest tree you can find.
Place it in warm water when you get home and use a tree preservative.
Keep it away from direct sunlight.
Keep it away from heat sources that can dry it out.
Be sure to keep water in the bowl at all times.

Enjoy your tree! Click this link for locations and hours of our nurseries and tree lot:

2017 CHRISTMAS TREE VARIETIES

FRASER FIR

The "tough as nails" Christmas tree. Fraser Firs are known for their longevity and pretty two tone gray and green needles. Their up swept branching and stiff needles are also great for hanging ornaments.

.

NOBLE FIR
This is the most popular Christmas tree. It has spacing in between its stiff branching, which is great for hanging ornaments. It also holds up very well and has a mild fragrance.

nordman

NORDMAN FIR

This tree is a fairly new introduction. It holds up better than a Noble Fir and has a shinier needle. The branch spacing is great for ornaments, but is not as stiff as a Noble. It drops the fewest needles and hardly has any fragrance so it is great for people with allergies.

GRAND FIR

This tree is by far the most fragrant and has a shiny dark green needle.  Its branching is pretty full, so you would only be decorating the outside. We normally bring this variety in a week later than the Noble, Fraser, and Nordman varieties.

douglas fir

DOUGLAS FIR

This tree use to be the #1 variety. It is your traditional Christmas tree with a thin needle, very full branching, and has the most traditional fragrance. It is brought in about the same time as the Grand Fir. You will see more needle drop, but it is the most economical tree.
